JOBBING TV SHOW by Diana Graepel, Creator & Producer

Jobbing aired from 2006 to 2007 on The Romanian National Television – TVR 1 and TVR 2 TV channels. Initially drawn up as an infotainment show, during the 1st season Jobbing promoted jobs coming from various professional areas with the help of some of the most appreciated Romanian professionals, carefully selected by the show producer, Diana Graepel.

Starting with September 2006, Jobbing carried on the appealing career initiation on TVR2 channel, being broadcasted in Prime Time, with an improved format. Youngsters, the primary target of the show, became the main characters chasing winning job opportunities at some of the most successful companies of the local marketplace. Starting with its 2nd season, Jobbing initiated the first Romanian Reality Show on jobs.

Short history

Jobbing television show promoted a new attitude for the Romanian youngsters: the perfect job is to be found!

The Romanian youth chasing the perfect job is definitely in need of reference points. Therefore Jobbing has appeared on the Romanian media landscape as a professional guidance for today students and young entry level employees. The main objective of the show was empowering Romanian youngsters to overcome obstacles and difficulties in order to chase their professional dreams and find their true vocation.

Through this television show, the Jobbing producers wished to contribute into transforming this particular attitude into an optimistic and competitive approach of the professional life. The reason for producing this particular type of television show was the will to inspire Romanian youngsters to benefit from the various and important opportunities that emerged in their own country after December ‘89.

Jobbing was the funky, optimistic, nevertheless practical show of the Romanian National Television, a job hunting telecast which angled for contemporary jobs, avoiding a didactic approach and aiming the best quality of form and expression.

The 3rd season of the show included a brand new Reality Show on jobs within the game design industry and continued with fresh professional perspectives offered by Romanian and international personalities.

Throughout its 3 seasons, Jobbing has accomplished its objective to make a difference for the Romanian television offer of educational still entertaining programming.

International personalities interviewed

During both seasons, Jobbing searched for further improvement of its format in order to send a clear and bold message to its target. The show didn’t restrict itself only to the above mentioned subjects, but managed to include information on the latest international job trends by travelling to London, New York, Washington where the crew obtained interviews on some of the newest and most interesting jobs literally unknown on the local market at that time, like:

  • Trend Analyst promoted by William Higham, founder of The Next Big Thing, one of the first agencies in Great Britain to be specialised in consumer trends, as well as by Agnes Kubiak, founder of Style-Vision, an European trends agency based at Nice, France.
  • Stan Stalnaker (former Marketing Director at Fortune Magazine, founder of Hub Culture) initiated the audience in the new upcoming job of Online Network Creator.
  • Mike Townsend, one of the founders of the tape-art concept, New York tape artist for more than a decade.
  • Life Coach a job presented in the interview of Genevieve Flaven, Style & Vision France.

The international perspective on career and job vocation also included interviews with:

  • Chris Daffy, one of the UK’s best-known authorities on Customer Service, author of the bestseller “Once a Customer, Always A Customer”, who presented to the Romanian audience the job of Professional Speaker.
  • Nick Allder , one of the world’s foremost Special Effects Directors, awarded with an Oscar for ALIEN.
  • Ethan Zohn, Winner of the 3rd edition of the Survivor in Africa, Founder of the Grassroot Soccer Kick Aids organisation, TV presenter in US.
  • Kate Roberts, Founder of YouthAIDS, Vice President of PSI, Washington, fund raiser nominated as one of the World Global Leaders for 2007
  • Leslie Hawke President of OvidiuRom Association, philanthropist, mother of the well known actor Ethan Hawke.
  • Soknan Han Jung, United Nations Coordinator in Romania.
  • Carla Vallet (singer, Audi Q7 global image)
